Beech - Pre-School

We believe in providing a happy, caring, inclusive teaching and learning environment where our children can begin to grow up to be competent, confident learners and communicators.

It is very important to us that our Pre-school and Reception environment is warm, welcoming and secure where our children can build the trust and confidence necessary to:

Enjoy positive interactions and relationships with the teachers and other children;

Explore more structured learning including Literacy and Numeracy;

Become actively involved in investigative learning, focused on finding answers to questions they themselves have posed;

Begin to experience research and independence in learning;

and to Begin to acquire the skills in critical thinking, creativity and working with others.

Transition to Reception: Our child-centred approach experienced continues seamlessly into Reception.

At this stage, whilst more formal teacher-led activities are introduced, child-led initiatives build on pre-existing interests and inspiring enthusiasm and engagement in learning.

Children's abilities vary widely at this stage so lessons are differentiated to ensure that all pupils are being appropriately challenged across the curriculum.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Development matters, which consists of 7 areas:

Communication and language

Physical development

Personal, social and emotional development

Understanding of the world

Expressive arts and design

We also take part in Forest School once a week.

We love to see how the different seasons and the changes to our environment.

We all enjoy taking a library book home to read every night in our special 'Cutnall Green' Book bags.

If we read every night we get to celebrate with Mrs Brunt in our Friday 'Celebration Assembly!'

We also have a name card to write our name. We love to write!  Learning our letter sounds and names is also an important part of our day; we love to sing the songs and show off our actions!

Interactive Learning Diary is how our teachers record our learning; you can add information from home too.
